BRASSICA PLANTING INSTRUCTIONS (Broccoli, Brussel Sprouts, Cabbage, Cauliflower, Collards, Kale, Mustard, Kohlrabi)

 

Planting Method A-:  Start indoors 4 weeks prior to setting out - several weeks prior to your last Spring frost. Place transplants about 1 foot apart.

Planting Method B-:  Direct seed in garden as soon as the soil can be worked. Thin or transplant when plants are 4 to 5 inches tall. Space about 1 foot apart.

 

 

 

COLLARDS

 

A rich source of vitamins.  Rich, dark green leaves.  Excellent taste when steamed.  Plant as early as ground can be worked.  Fall frosts improve flavor.    (Approximately  750- 900 seeds/pkt.)

 

Georgia Green- 80 days- 3 foot tall, large plants, blue-green crumpled leaves.  I have had  these get 4 feet tall and produce early season until well past frost.  Pkt. $1.50

Morris Heading- 70 days- Shorter plants producing a loose head at the top of the stem with darker green leaves.  Pkt. $1.50
